As environmental concerns become more prevalent, our business adopted sustainable strategies. These strategies aim to reduce our business’s negative impact on the environment and increase its positive impact instead.

Our sustainable business strategy is a set of actionable steps that we take to improve our impact on the community and the environment.

We believe if all of us do as much as possible, no matter how big or small, it will work on a larger scale and our planet will recover and regenerate.

Taking the Next Step in Sustainability

At Palacinke, we believe that great crepes shouldn't come at the expense of a healthy planet. While we're proud of our existing efforts, like composting our organic waste and bulk buying, we're now implementing new measures to significantly reduce single-use waste at the markets.

New Service Choices at the Markets

We are excited to offer two simple, effective ways for you to help us move closer to zero waste:

Dining In? Choose Reusable! For customers eating their crepe right away, we now encourage you to use our proper, durable plates and metal cutlery. This small change eliminates disposable items entirely, saves resources, and makes your market experience feel even better. It's the ultimate zero-waste choice.

Taking It Home? Bring Your Own Container! If you're buying crepes to take home, please bring your own clean, reusable food container (and bag!) with you. This is the best way to ensure your takeaway has absolutely no single-use packaging. We appreciate you taking this extra step with us to protect the environment.

Our Continuing Commitment

While we offer the reusable option, we understand that sometimes you need to eat on the go. We will still provide our quality, compostable trays and wooden cutlery as an alternative. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for everyone to choose the most sustainable path.

We thank you for joining us in this effort. Every time you choose a reusable plate or bring your own container, you are making a tangible difference.

We buy bulk. It saves packaging and waste.
We use powdered eggs and milk, this way they take less space, less packaging and lasts longer, so we are sure that the product we offer to you would always be up to our high standards.
We buy strawberries and blueberries in bulk too, so there are less plastic containers to go to recycling.
All the organic waste from strawberries, lemons & bananas is placed into compost.
When we go shopping, we buy all fresh ingredients in one trip, saving fuel, and when we order our containers and cutlery, we make a big order, so it's delivered less frequently.
All plastic containers are recycled & all cardboard boxes dropped off to the cardboard box collection centre.
We reuse jam jars for storing our coconut, cacao, walnuts and lemons, and all our strawberries, blueberries, mushrooms, feta & salad are in glass containers with the lid.

As alternative to proper plates, we use Premium brown kraft paper trays. These premium compostable takeaway trays are higher quality and finish, and are suitable for semi liquid food. These premium trays are made from 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly materials making them an excellent sustainable packaging option!

If you decide to take our crepes home, we can serve them in a lidded brown kraft container which is also compostable or recyclable.

If needed, we pack your food in a non-printed paper reusable bag. This bag is made in Australia, from Australian paper and it is both 100% compostable or recyclable.

As far as eco tableware goes, wooden cutlery is an absolute necessity. Not only is this cutlery of high build quality & made from environmentally conscious materials, but it’s also 100% home compostable. An added benefit of using this cutlery set is that it is more hygienic than loose cutlery. This is thanks to it's protective paper wrapper. This ensures that the cutlery and napkin stay fresher for longer. Made from sustainably sourced birch, the cutlery is fully compostable. This is better for the environment than other wood sources. As standard, this set comes with a brown lunch napkin. All contents of this set are 100% biodegradable and compostable, making them a great eco-friendly alternative.

When it comes to staff at Palacinke - Delicious Crepes, we can proudly say that we are sustainable in this field too!

We employ young people 16-18, teach them a lot - sustainability, food safety, friendly mateship and install a healthy work experience environment for all of them!
